VC Special Edition: A VJ and SAFA takeover
Wait what?! VJ and SAFA are posting from Valet Confidential!?
<A Valet Confidential Guest Takeover>
Shortly after the launch of the Writer’s Room, a new user appeared in Discord. He went by the name of FilmBook.
He asked great questions.
He expressed excitement.
He insisted that he would one day call himself a NYT Bestseller after we all did our job together.
And as we got to know each other better and better over those first few months hanging out in the Writer’s Room Discord together, he shared his desire to work in Web3, development, film, and media.
Now, a lot has changed for the entire Writer’s Room since those early days in late 2021. Our community has grown, we’ve brought on amazing investors, we’ve launched Bored & Dangerous, and we’re on the precipice of launching Azurbala.
Something has changed for FilmBook too… You see, now he does work in Web3, development, film, and media.
We could not be more excited to announce that FilmBook has joined Tally Labs as our Director of Business Operations!
As our entire community knows, FilmBook is an indispensable member of the Writer’s Room. He’s an incredibly kind and intelligent person. He’s organized. He’s dedicated. With his partner Space Walk, he spun up Valet Confidential - a newsletter that dives into the growing ecosystem of Jenkins the Valet and Tally Labs.
We got to know FilmBook through Valet Confidential shortly after he started the project. He and SpaceWalk interviewed the two of us for their first post, and we were blown away by their preparation and work ethic. As Valet Confidential grew, so did our relationship with the two of them.
We learned that FilmBook has an incredibly diverse set of skills. He can write (as made obvious by his Valet Confidential posts), and he’s had an incredible business career leading teams and implementing processes for global organizations. He listens to people, diagnoses situations, and has an amazing ability to define solutions that consider what’s best for the business and what’s best for the people working inside of it.
Even in the course of interviewing with our team – when they were the ones asking him the questions – he surfaced three or four things that he’d learned we could do better. On each of those things, he hit the nail on the head. Our entire team agreed after the interview process: we need this guy!
And so we are incredibly grateful to share that FilmBook is joining our team. In his new role of Director of Business Operations, he’ll serve as the connective tissue between all of our different functions, from Story to Software. He’s working closely with everyone on our team to create a frictionless environment where amazing work can get done.
FilmBook will share more thoughts in a future Valet Confidential post, and we’re certain it will be more eloquent than this. We appreciate being given the opportunity to take over VC for a day to share this announcement.
Before we sign off, we just need to do one more thing… to our moms who are both big fans of Valet Confidential: Hi!! We love you!
